this is probably not the best or most relevant site to make this enquiry, but I am struggling to find the answers. My birth father is called Horst Böttcher, and as far as I know, was a freelance journalist for frankfurter allgemeine in 1960, having, it is alledged, escaped from Leipzig to pursue his life in the west.
I have tried to find him, to no avail and it seems he may have assumed an identity as he may well have been an east german spy. Some strength is give to this as he met and romanced my birth mother (Yvonne Hughes) who was an officer in the BAOR.
He must be in his 70's now, if he's even alive. He fought in the defence of Berlin at the age of c 14 and received a wound above one eye for his troubles.
I have found my birth mother (half way round the world) who doesn't want anything to do with my quest, and I really need to find him. I have no idea who reads this, but I thank you in anticipation of your response. By the way, I speak no German. Jonathon Hall
